Hitting the Water? Make Sure You Have Proper ID!

We all enjoy ourselves in different ways when we hit the open water in Florida. Some simply go for a swim, while others find fun with water toys. If you are the latter, then it’s important that you make sure to bring proper ID to rent one of the fun watercraft from Woody’s Watersports.

Watercraft License RulesSay you are planning on heading out on the water one day with your friends and you need to rent Jet Skis. When you get to our shop, we will ask you for your driver’s license or other form of identification. If you were born before Jan. 1, 1988, then all you will need is a major credit card and photo ID and you will be good to go. However, if you were born after that date, you’re going to need something else before you can rent – a boater’s license.

So how do you get one of these? You have to complete an Official Boater Safety Course in the state of Florida. After that, you will get a temporary certificate of completion that you can use for rentals until your official card comes in. At Woody’s, we offer temporary certification exams for $3, so even if you’re not licensed yet, you can stop in and rent a personal watercraft during your getaway.

Woody’s Watersports offers wave runners, jet skis, and numerous other water vehicles for rent. Whether you are looking to have a fun day on the water with your family or just you and a loved one, our wide selection is sure to have what you’re looking for. For more information, give us a call today at 727-391-0200 or stop in and see us, just off Boardwalk Place in Madiera Beach!
